I Can’t Help but Love the New Season of Dancing with the Stars

Whatever this season is, I was tired of the dancing, judges, and contestants. I just couldn’t stand to watch Chloris Leachman. Nevertheless then along came Gilles Poet, Lil Kim, Ty Philologue, Melissa Rycroft, The Woz, Julianne’s sweetheart, Diet Wicks, Denise Richards, Shawn Johnson, and some others that certainly didn’t excite me.

But not all was lost – someone did hold my attention. I couldn’t wait to see the outstanding dancing of Frenchman Gilles Marini. I discovered Gilles when I saw Sex and the City where he stood out among a cast of talented actors and actresses. And as a celebrity dancer on Dancing with the Stars Gilles does not let fans of his screen work down. Gilles raises the temperature on the dance floor. One of Dancing’s judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, let slip what a lot of us were thinking – Carole, Gilles Marini’s wife, one was lucky lady.

Denise Richards was disappointing. She lacked talent and personality, two very important attributes for anyone appearing on the program. The Woz had the personality, but no talent. While Chuck Wicks put in 110% and stayed on the show week after week. I was not interested in watching Lil’ Kim, until I saw what an amazing dancer she turned out to be. Derek Huff showed what expert choreography and showmanship can bring to the dance floor with his amazing routines. They proved to be a powerful duo when they showed that they had chemistry along with their talent. How stunning was it then that Lil’ Kim was voted off ahead of several less talented dance partners.

As it stands right now the last couples in competition are Melissa and Tony, Ty and Chelsie, Gilles and Cheryl, Shawn and Mark. When Jewel fractured the tibia in both her legs five days before the season premiere, that is when Melissa stepped up and took her place. Melissa didn’t struggle too much for someone with such little prep time – she has training in ballet. Her performances have been close to perfection, earning her perfect scores in the last show. Even if you get a perfect score from the judges, you still risk being voted off the show. (Take a look at Sabrina Bryan, she was sent packing with her dancing partner Mark Ballas in the 5th season despite scoring the highest first week score and later getting the first 30 out of 30 score.) Rodeo champion Ty Murry has worked on his dancing the most and it shows. He happens to be very adorable too. Ty’s experience riding bulls and guiding horses doesn’t translate directly to the dance floor and provided a big cache of voting fans who normally wouldn’t watch Dancing with the Stars. Shawn Johnson’s Olympic performance was so endearing, and her dancing is the same. Finally, Gilles Marini simply couldn’t do a routine that didn’t blow me away. He is definitely my favorite.

So who will take home the winner’s 100k bonus? An additional couple returns home this week. After that the three last dance teams have a final dance-off. I can’t wait until the final show airs! Luckily I have a DVR for a backup just in case something comes up.

On a side note, one of the best ways to watch Dancing with the Stars is in high definition. After several friends kept harping on how much of a difference it made I finally gave in and purchased a hi-def television, and boy am I happy I did! I didn’t know what I was missing! You may be thinking what I used to think – how can it make that much of a difference in picture and sound quality? Well, I’m here to tell you it really does. Of course I also had to get HD cable service from my local cable provider, Comcast Cable, but the service is outstanding and the rates for adding high definition service are very low. I thought “what the heck?” and added the Comcast Digital Voice and High speed internet while I was at it since they could be added for such a low rate. My download speeds and television picture are by far the fastest and clearest I have ever experienced with my new broadband service and HD Comcast Cable. Plus, the clear digital phone service sounds amazing and flat-rate pricing means I can call all my friends and family nationwide without paying long distance charges. If Comcast is your local cable provider or you’re planning on moving to an area covered by Comcast, I definitely recommend calling them up and ordering their great services. For additional savings, Search the web, and you will find plenty of Comcast Cable’s latest promotions. The Triple Play Bundle is the best way to go so make sure you consider it. All three digital services for a big discount from Comcast.
